How To Make A Good First Impressions

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. We’ve all heard that expression before. And we all know how true it is! Experts say that during the first sixty seconds after a person meets you, they will form their opinion of you. Often times it is hard to change that opinion that is formed.

Often times it is hard to change that first impression, so it is important that you make the right impression the FIRST time; especially with a customer or potential customer. Here are some important steps to follow to make sure to get it right the first time.

Timing is everything! You must place a high importance on being on time. Showing your customers that you respect their time helps them to feel like they are important to you. Of course they ARE important to you. So show them by training your salespeople in the importance of timing. Instruct your staff to greet customers when they walk through the door. If there is ever a wait or delay, apologize and let them know you will be with them just as soon as you can!

Dress the part. Show your customers that you are professional by dressing professionally. If you own a dry cleaning plant, do not allow your counter people to dress in a tee shirt and jeans. Require them to wear dry cleaned and freshly pressed clothing. A blouse for women and a button up shirt or polo for men. Your counter people are representing your company; require that they dress the part.

Be confident. You know what you are doing. You have a great product or service. Do not be nervous. Show your clients that you believe in whatever it is that you are trying to sell them. If you are not confident in yourself, how can you ask your customers to be confident in you or in your company?

The first impression must be the right impression. Be conscious of the image you portray. Teach your employees why this is important and what they can do about it. Give your customers an experience that they will remember and tell their friends about. Wow them with what they see. This will lead them to having confidence in your company and products, and in turn choosing your company to do business with.
