Creative Halloween Costumes: How To Be Creative On A Budget

Halloween in October is flooded with contests of who has the best Halloween costumes. Parents and kids get some extra bonding time to work on those costumes, hoping to bag the grand prize and the most goodies as well. Either way, Halloween is actually the best time to wear the silliest but cutest costumes.

It is an excellent time to be somebody else for a night. Shopping malls and specialty stores fill up their racks of various Halloween costumes. And many people end up with the same costumes. Nothing is worse than finding out you bought the same costume as your friends. Another problem is that if you do not have enough money to go to another expensive store for something unique, you may end up with what everyone else is wearing. So, why not look at stuff in your own home instead?

To give you an idea where to start, here are just some easy and fun things to wear on Halloween.

A Savvy GhostUsing the same old white sheet with slits for eyes as your Casper like costume, why not make your ghost extra cute by dressing it up a little. For the girls, put a little lipstick by the mouth area. Put on fake lashes. For an extra stylistic touch to your costume accessories! Stick on some fun fake earrings or a toy necklace. The boys may add character to their ghost costume by putting on a bandanna around the head, or any hats. How about that for an exciting ghost!

Tourist on VacationIt will be authentic for you to be a typical tourist. If you paint your face and arms with just a small amount of brown body paint that will show a tanned tourist. Boys can don their typical Hawaiian shirts and shorts, and camera slings around their necks. Girls can wear shirts, shorts and sandals. Then bring along big tote transparent bags with maps, a book, a bikini, and sun block lotion. And do not forget straw hats! Use more flamboyant ones for the ladies.

Grandma and Grandpa WannabesOne can easily borrow his grandmas or grandpas clothes to get this look (or check out old clothes from the attic). Boys can get old flannel shirts, big old pants, and a walking cane. Girls can put on an old, ruffled-style dress, old and thick stockings, oxford shoes and bring along a large purse. Both can style their hair using temporary hair color (silvery white, of course), or they can just dust it with a little bit of baby powder or flour. To have that aged look on their faces, apply egg whites smoothly over face.

Box me upThis is fun to make. Just get a big box that is your size from the garage and decorate it to make you look like a walking box of cereal or milk. Cut holes on the sides for your arms. Cut holes also at the bottom for your legs. Paint the box with your favorite brand of cereals or milk. Remember to put on colored tights, gloves and a wig to make the whole look funky.

The Garden lookGather leaves, twigs and flowers from the garden. Stick them on an old brown or green leotards or tights. More of these flora and fauna, the better will be the look. Dress up an old straw hat with ferns and leaves too. Put on a face mask and attach small bits of leaves and flowers. Before wearing the leotards and putting on the face mask, paint your body first with the color of nature. Then you are all set to join the birds and the trees!

There are hundreds of costumes to think of if you switch on that creativity in you. If you do not have then remember that Google is your friend. Whichever way you may get that inspiration to create your own cool halloween costumes; do not forget to have fun in making them!
